On May 20, SIS Principal Teresa Knight presented the Daughters of the American Revolution Youth Citizenship Medal to Anna Moss, a 6th grade student at SIS. The medal is designated for a student who exemplifies the qualities of honor, service, courage, leadership, and patriotism.
“It was my pleasure to recognize Anna with this medal at the 6th Grade Awards Assembly,” said SIS Principal Teresa Knight after the ceremony. “Anna is a well-rounded, exceptional student. We are proud of Anna and her accomplishments.”
The DAR Youth Citizenship Medal is given to boys and girls in grades 5 - 11. The medal was established to foster among schoolchildren a greater appreciation of the qualities of citizenship Americans must possess if our country is to remain sovereign and independent. SIS awards one medal to one student each year on behalf of the Chicot Trace Chapter.
