The Sheridan School District has announced that Andy Brakebill will be the new head girls basketball coach for the Lady Yellowjackets. The Sheridan School Board voted to hire Brakebill during a special-called board meeting Friday night. He replaces Jamison Ingram, who was named assistant principal at Sheridan High School earlier this month.
Brakebill is the current head boys basketball coach at Benton Harmony Grove, where he has been since 2020. He has also been a head boys coach at Poyen and Bauxite, the assistant high school girls coach at Rogers, and was a junior high basketball and assistant football coach at Bryant.
Among other achievements, Brakebill led Harmony Grove to consecutive conference championships from 2022-24, including back-to-back state tournament appearances. The Cardinals finished the 2024 season with a record of 28-5 overall and 13-1 in conference play. They also won the district championship. He led Bauxite to its first conference championship in school history, its first state tournament since 1963, and its first-ever victory in a state tournament. He won conference Coach of the Year honors in 2015 and 2024.
Sheridan Athletic Director Rick Treadway said of Brakebill, “When you can get the combination of a very high character and very respected and experienced coach, you are blessed. Coach Andy Brakebill will bring both to our Lady Jacket basketball program.”
Brakebill received his bachelor’s degree from Henderson State University, where he was a member of the 2003 Gulf South Conference championship team for the Reddies.
