Sheridan High School AP teacher, Olivia Lewis, was recently selected by the Arkansas Department of Education to receive an AP Equipment and Materials Grant for her AP Psychology class. The grant will be used to purchase interactive brain models for students to use during their study of the brain and its functions. Congratulations to Mrs. Lewis! #YJNation

Congratulations to the Sheridan High School chess team, who won first place at the high school regional chess competition at the Arkansas River Education Service Cooperative in Pine Bluff. Sheridan's Gavin Goldman also won first place in individual competition. Way to go!
Congratulations to the East End Middle School chess team, who won first place at the 7th/8th grade regional chess competition at the Arkansas River Education Service Cooperative in Pine Bluff. Nathanyal Taylor and Wyatt Dowler also got first place individually. James McAllister, Wesley Clark, Jocelynn Tolliver, and Bryson Warrick tied for second place. Great job!

The Sheridan Yellowjacket football team will play in the first round of the state playoffs on Friday at Mountain Home against the Bombers. Below are ticket and pass guidelines, which are established by the Arkansas Activities Association (AAA).
Tickets are $8 and are only available online through GoFan. Admission will be charged for ages 5 and up. Printed tickets and screenshots will not be accepted. (Host sites for the playoffs are required to provide a computer, tablet or smartphone with an internet connection to assist in the purchase of digital tickets for spectators who do not have a capable device.)

Sheridan High School took a group of seniors to tour Arkansas Tech University for their "Time Out for Tech" event, giving them a firsthand look at campus life and the academic opportunities ATU offers. #YJNation

This weekend, the Jr. Jackettes Dance Team competed in their last competition of the year at Cabot High School. They received second place in both the 5A/6A Jazz category and the 5A/6A Pom category. It was a great weekend and their coach is very proud of them! These girls have been working since August preparing for their competitions. It was a great way to end the season! Go Jackets!

Schools throughout the Sheridan School District will host their annual Veterans' Day celebrations on Monday, Nov. 11. In Sheridan, SES, SIS, SMS and SHS will have a parade in which all veterans are invited to participate. Line-up will be at the SES car line off Skyline Drive at 8:45 a.m., and the parade begins at 9:00 a.m. The parade route is slightly different this year, as the map indicates. Members of the 2023-24 state champion Lady Yellowjacket softball team were presented with their championship rings by Coach Scott Hoffman at halftime of the Jackets' football game Friday night. They were also presented with a citation from the Arkansas House of Representatives marking their accomplishment by State Rep. Julie Mayberry. Earlier in the evening Callie Kilburn was presented with a plaque by Hoffman and Coach Jordan Phillips in honor of her selection as the Class 5A Player of the Year for Arkansas. Kilburn was a senior on last year's team and is now a freshman pitcher for Ouachita Baptist University. #YJNation
