Becky McKinney, a bus driver for the Sheridan School District, has been named winner of the 2022 Award of Excellence from the Arkansas Association of Pupil Transportation. McKinney, who has worked for the district the past 29 years, received the honor at the AAPT annual banquet held June 21 in Hot Springs.
Rhonda Harris, SSD’s transportation coordinator, said that McKinney has been one of the district’s most requested and popular bus drivers through the years.
“She has assisted many coaches and their teams by ensuring their safe and timely arrival to the many games and activities the students have participated in,” Harris wrote in her nomination letter for McKinney. “She always makes sure her students are safe while traveling back and forth to school.”
McKinney has driven the same route for many years and has witnessed countless numbers of her student riders grow up from young ages to their graduation.
“She is top notch when it comes to taking care of students, staff and faculty – always willing to go above and beyond to get the job done,” Harris said.
The Sheridan School District currently has openings for bus drivers. For more information, contact Harris or Dennis Emerson at 870-942-5522.
