A new Yellowjacket administrator is still winning awards for accomplishments with her previous employer.
Heather Williams, who began her new job as principal of East End Middle School on July 1, accepted a R.I.S.E. Arkansas School Award for accomplishments in the 2021-22 school year when she served as principal of Perritt Primary School in the Arkadelphia School District. Williams was recognized during the annual Arkansas Department of Education (ADE) Summit in Hot Springs on Tuesday, July 12. ADE Secretary Johnny Key made the presentation to Williams.
The R.I.S.E. Arkansas School Award is presented to schools who are recognized as developing a culture of reading, promoting strong community partnerships, and sharpening the focus and strengthening instruction in reading. To date, there have only been 36 schools that have received this award, including 10 this year.
“I was honored to lead my school last year to integrate these components into our daily practices,” Williams said.
In 2021, Williams was named National Outstanding Assistant Principal by the National Association of Elementary School Principals.
